FAQ

The most common interview questions in Singapore include “Tell me about yourself,” “Why do you want this job?”, “Why are you leaving your current role?”, “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”, “Why should we hire you?”, salary expectation questions, and behavioural questions about pressure, conflict, mistakes, and stakeholder management. The exact questions vary by role, but the employer’s goal is usually the same: they want to assess capability, motivation, communication, and hiring risk.

Answer it by summarising your professional relevance to the role. Start with your current or most recent work, highlight experience that matches the job, and explain why the role is a logical next move. Avoid giving a full personal history. The interviewer is not asking for your biography. They are checking whether you can position yourself clearly and connect your background to their hiring need.

Be honest, but do not stop at “I do not have experience.” Mention related experience, transferable skills, or how you would approach the situation. Employers are usually more open to gaps when candidates show clear thinking and learning ability. What damages trust is pretending to have experience and then struggling when the interviewer asks follow-up questions.

If the interviewer asks, answer with a realistic range based on the role, your experience, and the Singapore market. Do not say you are open to anything unless you truly are. A clear range helps both sides avoid wasting time. You can also mention that you are open to discussing the full package depending on responsibilities, bonus structure, benefits, and growth scope.

Prepare key points and examples, not word-for-word scripts. Practise explaining your experience out loud in a natural way. Strong candidates sound prepared but still responsive. If your answer sounds exactly the same regardless of the question, it will feel rehearsed. Listen carefully, answer the actual question, and adapt your example to the interviewer’s concern.

Ask questions that help you understand the role properly, such as what success looks like in the first six months, what challenges the role will face, how performance is measured, why the role is open, and what would make someone struggle in the position. These questions show that you are evaluating the opportunity seriously, not just trying to survive the interview.

Interview Questions in Singapore: What Employers Really Ask

Learn the interview questions Singapore employers ask, what they are really testing, and how to answer with clarity, proof, and confidence.

Interview questions are not random. In Singapore, most employers use them to test three things: whether you can do the job, whether you understand how work gets done in their environment, and whether hiring you feels like a sensible risk. The mistake many candidates make is treating interview questions like a school exam, where there is one perfect answer. There usually is not. A strong answer shows judgement, relevance, self-awareness, and evidence. A weak answer sounds rehearsed, vague, or disconnected from the role. I see this often: candidates prepare impressive lines, but they do not answer the concern sitting behind the question. That concern is what you need to understand.

What Interviewers Are Really Testing With Interview Questions

Most interview questions are not about the question itself. They are about the risk behind it.

When a hiring manager asks, “Tell me about yourself,” they are not asking for your life story. They are checking whether you can explain your professional value clearly without rambling. When they ask, “Why do you want this job?” they are not expecting poetry about passion. They want to know whether you understand the role, whether your motivation is believable, and whether you are likely to stay.

In the Singapore job market, this matters because many hiring processes are practical, time-sensitive, and often cautious. Employers are not only comparing your technical skills. They are also asking themselves:

  • •

Can this person communicate clearly with stakeholders?

  • •

Will they adapt to our pace and structure?

  • •

Are they realistic about the role?

  • •

Will they need too much hand-holding?

  • •

Are they likely to resign quickly if another offer comes?

  • •

The Most Common Interview Questions In Singapore

These are the interview questions I see candidates face repeatedly across corporate, SME, startup, government-linked, professional services, finance, tech, operations, sales, HR, marketing, admin, and regional roles in Singapore.

Tell Me About Yourself

This is usually the opening question, and it sets the tone. Many candidates either recite their resume or give a personal introduction that does not help the interviewer evaluate them.

What employers are really asking is: “Can you summarise your relevance to this role?”

A strong answer should cover:

  • •

Your current or most recent role

  • •

    Your relevant experience

  • •

The type of problems you have handled

  • •

Why this role is a logical next step

Weak Example

“I am a hardworking person and I have always been passionate about learning. I studied business and I have experience in different areas. I am now looking for a new opportunity where I can grow.”

This sounds pleasant, but it gives the interviewer nothing solid to evaluate. “Hardworking” and “passionate” are not proof. They are claims.

Behavioural Interview Questions And How To Answer Them

Behavioural interview questions usually start with phrases like:

  • •

Tell me about a time when

  • •

    Give me an example of

  • •

    Describe a situation where

  • •

    How did you handle

These questions are common in Singapore because employers want proof, not just claims. Anyone can say they are good with stakeholders. A behavioural answer shows whether that is actually true.

The best structure is simple:

  • •

    Situation

  • •

    Action

  • •

    Result

Technical And Role-Specific Interview Questions

Technical interview questions depend on the role, but the purpose is usually the same: employers want to know whether your skills are usable in real work, not just listed on your resume.

For example:

  • •

A finance candidate may be asked about reporting standards, reconciliations, variance analysis, or audit issues

  • •

A marketing candidate may be asked about campaign performance, conversion metrics, channel strategy, or content planning

  • •

A sales candidate may be asked about pipeline management, objection handling, account growth, or revenue targets

  • •

An HR candidate may be asked about employee relations, recruitment processes, onboarding, payroll coordination, or HR systems

  • •

A tech candidate may be asked about system design, coding logic, debugging, architecture, security, or product trade-offs

The mistake is answering technical questions in a purely academic way. Singapore employers usually care about practical application.

If asked, “How do you manage campaign performance?” a weak answer explains definitions. A strong answer explains what you monitor, how often, what you do when performance drops, and how you report it to stakeholders.

Salary Expectation Interview Questions

Salary questions are common in Singapore interviews, sometimes earlier than candidates expect. This does not always mean the employer is ready to offer. Often, they are checking whether your expectations fit the budget before investing more time.

What Is Your Expected Salary?

A poor answer is either too rigid too early or too vague to be useful.

Weak Example

“I am open to anything.”

This may sound flexible, but it can weaken your positioning. It also does not help the recruiter or employer assess fit.

Good Example

“Based on the role scope, my experience, and the current Singapore market range for similar positions, I am looking at around S$X to S$Y. I am open to discussing the overall package depending on responsibilities, bonus structure, benefits, and growth scope.”

This gives a range while keeping room for discussion.

What Is Your Current Salary?

Some candidates feel uncomfortable with this question, and that is understandable. Salary discussions can be awkward, especially when employers use current salary too heavily to anchor offers.

If you choose to answer, be factual and calm. If your current salary is below market, do not let it define your value.

Good Example

“My current base salary is S$X, with a variable bonus component. For this move, I am looking at the market value of the role and the responsibilities involved, rather than only applying an increment to my current package.”

This is a strong answer because it politely shifts the discussion from salary history to role value.

Questions About Career Gaps, Job Hopping, And Short Stints

Singapore employers can be quite sensitive to stability. This is not always fair, but it is real. If you have career gaps, short stints, or several moves, prepare your answer properly.

The goal is not to apologise for your career history. The goal is to explain it clearly enough that the employer does not create a worse story in their head.

Why Were You Only In This Role For A Short Time?

Good Example

“The role changed quite significantly after I joined. It was originally positioned as a client success role, but the actual scope became mostly administrative support with limited client involvement. I still delivered on the responsibilities during my time there, but I realised it was not aligned with the direction I wanted to build. For my next move, I am being more careful about role scope, team expectations, and long-term fit.”

This answer is honest without sounding bitter.

Can You Explain This Career Gap?

Good Example

“I took a career break for personal reasons, and that period has now been resolved. During the break, I stayed updated on the industry and also completed relevant learning in [area]. I am now ready to return to a full-time role and commit properly.”

You do not need to disclose private details. A clear, calm answer is enough.

My recruiter advice: do not over-explain gaps until they become the main topic of the interview. The more nervous you sound, the more the interviewer may think there is something bigger behind it.

Interview Questions For Fresh Graduates And Early Career Candidates

Fresh graduates in Singapore often worry because they do not have enough work experience. But employers hiring fresh graduates are not expecting ten years of experience disguised as a 23-year-old. What they are testing is potential, attitude, learning ability, communication, and basic workplace judgement.

Common questions include:

  • •

Why did you choose this field?

  • •

What did you learn from your internship?

  • •

Tell me about a school project where you worked with others

  • •

    How do you handle feedback?

  • •

What kind of work environment helps you perform well?

  • •

Why should we choose you over other fresh graduates?

The strongest fresh graduate answers use internships, projects, part-time work, CCAs, volunteering, freelance work, or academic projects as evidence.

Questions You Should Ask The Interviewer

At the end of the interview, when the interviewer asks whether you have questions, do not say, “No, I think everything is clear.”

Everything is not clear. You are just tired.

Asking good questions helps you evaluate the employer and shows that you are thinking seriously about the role.

Strong questions include:

  • •

What would success look like in the first six months?

  • •

What are the biggest challenges the person in this role will need to handle?

  • •

How is performance usually measured for this position?

  • •

What kind of stakeholders would I work with most often?

  • •

    Why is this role open?

  • •

What are the team’s current priorities?

  • •

Common Interview Answer Mistakes I See Candidates Make

Many candidates do not fail interviews because they are unqualified. They fail because their answers make the interviewer uncertain.

Giving Answers That Are Too Generic

Generic answers sound safe, but they do not help you stand out.

If your answer could be copied by any candidate in any industry, it is too weak.

Instead of saying, “I am a good communicator,” explain what kind of communication you handle. Client updates? Senior stakeholders? Difficult internal teams? Regional coordination? Technical explanation for non-technical users?

Specificity builds trust.

Over-Rehearsing Until You Sound Artificial

Preparation is good. Memorising full paragraphs is risky.

Interviewers can hear when an answer is scripted. It sounds smooth, but not alive. The moment they ask a follow-up question, the candidate becomes shaky because they prepared a speech, not a thought process.

Prepare key points, examples, and stories. Do not memorise every sentence.

Focusing Only On Yourself And Not The Role

Some candidates answer every question from their own perspective only.

“I want to learn.”

“I want career growth.”

“I want exposure.”

These are valid, but employers also want to know what they get from hiring you. An interview is not only about your aspirations. It is also about the employer’s problem.

How To Prepare For Interview Questions Properly

Interview preparation should not mean memorising 50 answers. It should mean understanding the role, selecting relevant evidence, and learning how to explain your value clearly.

Study The Job Description Like A Hiring Manager

Do not just read the job description for keywords. Read it for problems.

Ask yourself:

  • •

What is this person being hired to solve?

  • •

    Which responsibilities appear most important?

  • •

Which stakeholders will this role deal with?

  • •

    What pressure points might exist?

  • •

What experience would make the hiring manager feel safe?

If a job description mentions “cross-functional collaboration” three times, prepare examples of working across teams. If it mentions “fast-moving environment,” prepare examples of prioritisation. If it mentions “regional stakeholders,” prepare examples of communication across markets, cultures, or time zones.

A Practical Framework For Answering Any Interview Question

When you get an interview question, do not rush to speak immediately. A short pause is fine. It shows you are thinking.

Use this simple internal filter:

  • •

What is the interviewer really worried about?

  • •

    What evidence do I have?

  • •

How can I answer directly first?

  • •

What detail will make this credible?

  • •

What should I avoid saying because it creates unnecessary concern?

For example, if asked, “Can you handle a fast-paced environment?” do not just say yes. The hidden concern is whether you can prioritise and stay effective under pressure.

A stronger answer would be:

“Yes, I am used to that. In my current role, the pace can be intense during month-end and campaign periods because different teams need updates at the same time. What helps me is separating urgent issues from important but less time-sensitive work, confirming expectations early, and giving stakeholders updates before they chase. I find that pressure is manageable when communication is clear.”

What Strong Interview Answers Have In Common

Strong interview answers usually have four qualities.

They are relevant. They connect to the role, not just your general personality.

They are specific. They include real work details, not vague claims.

They are balanced. They show confidence without arrogance, honesty without oversharing, and ambition without sounding unrealistic.

They are easy to follow. The interviewer does not have to work hard to understand your point.

This is where many candidates underestimate the interview process. Hiring managers are not always trained interviewers. Some are busy, distracted, or unclear themselves. Your job is to make your value easy to understand. Do not make them dig for it.

What Employers Say Versus What They Often Mean

Interview language can be vague. Here is how I would decode some common phrases.

When they say, “We are looking for someone hands-on,” they may mean the role involves execution, not just strategy. If you only speak in high-level concepts, they may worry you cannot do the actual work.

When they say, “We need someone adaptable,” they may mean the scope changes often, processes may not be perfect, and you will need to operate with some ambiguity.

When they say, “The team is lean,” they may mean there is limited support. Ask how work is prioritised and what resources are available.

When they say, “We value ownership,” they may mean they want someone who follows through without being chased. Good. But sometimes it also means unclear boundaries. Ask what ownership looks like in the role.

When they say, “This role has growth potential,” they may mean there is no immediate promotion path but there may be future opportunity. Ask how growth has looked for previous employees in similar roles.

This is not about being cynical. It is about being awake. Interviews are two-way assessments, even when the employer has the nicer meeting room.

How To Handle Interview Questions You Do Not Know How To Answer

You will not always have a perfect answer. That is normal.

What matters is how you respond when you are unsure.

For technical questions, do not fake expertise. A better response is:

“I have not handled that exact scenario directly, but I have worked on something similar. My approach would be to first clarify the requirement, check the current process or data source, and then validate with the relevant stakeholder before making changes.”

This shows honesty and thinking ability.

For experience gaps, you can say:

“I have not had direct ownership of that area yet, but I have supported related work. For example…”

Then give a relevant example.

Hiring managers can accept gaps if they believe you are honest, capable of learning, and not pretending. What worries them is when a candidate overclaims and then collapses under follow-up questions.

How To Follow Up After An Interview

A follow-up message will not rescue a poor interview, but it can reinforce a good one. Keep it short, relevant, and professional.

Send a follow-up if:

  • •

    You had a meaningful discussion

  • •

You want to clarify a point briefly

  • •

You want to thank them after a final-stage interview

  • •

You were asked to provide additional information

A good follow-up should mention the role, thank them for the discussion, and briefly reinforce your fit.

Good Example

“Thank you for taking the time to speak with me about the role. I appreciated learning more about the team’s priorities, especially around improving reporting accuracy and stakeholder turnaround time. The discussion reinforced my interest in the position, as these are areas I have worked closely on in my current role. I look forward to hearing from you.”

Do not send a long essay. Do not re-answer the whole interview. Do not attach motivational quotes. Please let everyone recover peacefully.

Final Thoughts On Interview Questions

Interview questions are easier to handle when you stop treating them as traps and start treating them as signals. Every question tells you what the employer needs to feel confident about.

Your job is not to perform a perfect personality. Your job is to show relevant evidence, clear thinking, and realistic motivation.

In Singapore’s hiring market, where employers often compare candidates quickly and cautiously, the strongest candidate is not always the one with the most polished answer. It is the one who makes the hiring decision feel easier.

Prepare your examples. Understand the role. Speak like someone who knows how work actually gets done. That is what interviewers remember.

Create Resume

Can I trust their judgement when things are unclear?

This is why generic interview answers fail. They may sound polished, but they do not reduce hiring uncertainty.

A good answer does not need to be dramatic. It needs to make the interviewer think, “Yes, this person understands the work.”

Good Example

“I am currently in a business operations role where I support process improvement, vendor coordination, and internal reporting. Over the past two years, I have worked closely with sales, finance, and customer service teams to reduce delays in order processing and improve tracking accuracy. What attracted me to this role is that it combines operational structure with stakeholder management, which is the part of my work I enjoy and where I have built the strongest experience.”

This works because it is focused. It tells the interviewer what you do, where you add value, and why the role makes sense.

My recruiter advice: do not start too far back. Unless your education is highly relevant or you are a fresh graduate, your answer should not begin with your primary school level origin story. Nobody in the interview room needs the Netflix documentary version.

Why Do You Want This Job?

This question exposes whether you have thought properly about the role or whether you are applying everywhere and hoping something lands.

In Singapore, where candidates often apply to many roles at once, employers are alert to vague motivation. They know some candidates are exploring casually. They know some are mainly salary-driven. Salary matters, of course. Let us not pretend everyone is working for decorative LinkedIn purpose statements. But if your answer only signals convenience, the employer may worry that you will leave quickly.

A strong answer connects three things:

  • •

The actual responsibilities of the role

  • •

    Your relevant strengths or experience

  • •

The direction you want to grow in

Weak Example

“I want this job because your company is reputable and I think it will be a good opportunity for me to learn.”

This is too generic. It could be said to almost any employer in Singapore.

Good Example

“I am interested in this role because it is focused on regional account management, not just local client servicing. In my current role, I have handled Singapore-based accounts, but I have also worked with Malaysia and Hong Kong stakeholders on smaller projects. I want to move into a role where cross-market coordination is a bigger part of the job. From the job description, this position seems to require both client relationship management and internal coordination, which matches the type of work I have been doing and want to build further.”

This answer feels credible because it refers to the actual job.

Why Are You Leaving Your Current Job?

This is one of the most badly answered interview questions because candidates either become too negative or too vague.

The interviewer is not just asking why you are leaving. They are checking whether there is a problem they might inherit.

What they are listening for:

  • •

Are you leaving for a reasonable reason?

  • •

    Are you blaming everyone else?

  • •

    Are you discreet and professional?

  • •

    Are your expectations realistic?

  • •

Are you running away from pressure, structure, or accountability?

You do not need to pretend everything is perfect. But you do need to frame your reason maturely.

Weak Example

“My manager is not good and the company has no direction. I feel there is no future there.”

Even if this is true, saying it this way makes you look risky. Hiring managers know workplaces can be messy. They still want to know whether you can explain issues without sounding emotionally unmanaged.

Good Example

“I have learnt a lot in my current role, especially around client servicing and internal coordination. At this stage, the role has become quite narrow, and there is limited scope for me to take on larger accounts or more strategic responsibilities. I am now looking for a role where I can contribute at a broader level and continue developing in account management.”

This answer avoids drama and keeps the focus on growth and role fit.

My recruiter advice: do not overshare workplace politics. Interviews are not therapy sessions with office chairs.

What Are Your Strengths?

Most candidates answer this with personality traits. That is usually too weak.

Instead of saying you are “responsible”, “adaptable”, or “a team player”, show how that strength appears at work.

A strong answer should include:

  • •

    A specific strength

  • •

A work situation where it matters

  • •

    Evidence or impact

Weak Example

“My strength is that I am very responsible and I always try my best.”

This is not wrong. It is just forgettable.

Good Example

“One of my strengths is turning messy information into something usable. In my current role, different teams often send updates in different formats, which used to cause delays in reporting. I created a simple tracking structure so sales, operations, and finance could update the same view. It reduced repeated follow-ups and made our weekly reporting much cleaner.”

This gives the interviewer a real behaviour to remember.

What Are Your Weaknesses?

This question is not an invitation to destroy yourself. It is also not a place to say, “I am a perfectionist,” unless you want the interviewer to quietly lose the will to continue.

Employers ask this to test self-awareness. They want to know whether you can identify development areas without sounding careless or defensive.

A strong answer should include:

  • •

    A real but manageable weakness

  • •

What you are doing to improve it

  • •

How you prevent it from affecting work quality

Weak Example

“My weakness is that I care too much.”

This sounds rehearsed and slightly suspicious.

Good Example

“Earlier in my career, I sometimes took too long to escalate issues because I wanted to solve everything first. I realised that in a fast-moving team, waiting too long can create bigger problems. Now, I still try to solve issues independently, but I also give earlier updates when something may affect timelines or stakeholders.”

This works because it shows learning and judgement.

Why Should We Hire You?

This question feels intimidating, but it is really asking: “Can you connect your value to our need?”

Do not answer with generic confidence. Answer with relevance.

A strong answer should combine:

  • •

    The role’s key requirement

  • •

    Your strongest matching experience

  • •

The outcome you can help create

Good Example

“You should hire me because this role needs someone who can manage client expectations while keeping internal teams aligned. That is exactly where I have built my experience. In my current role, I handle client updates, coordinate with operations, and make sure issues are resolved before they become escalations. I am not just comfortable speaking to clients. I am also used to doing the follow-through internally, which I think is important for this position.”

This answer is strong because it is not begging. It is positioning.

•

Learning, if relevant

I do not recommend making answers too mechanical. Interviewers can tell when candidates are forcing a textbook structure. Use the structure to stay clear, not to sound robotic.

Tell Me About A Time You Handled A Difficult Stakeholder

What they are really testing: patience, communication, judgement, and whether you can manage disagreement without escalating unnecessarily.

Good Example

“In my previous role, I worked with a client who often changed requirements after timelines had already been agreed. This created pressure for the delivery team because the changes affected workload and quality checks. I arranged a call with the client to clarify which changes were urgent and which could be moved to a later phase. Internally, I aligned with the delivery team on what was realistic before confirming anything. As a result, we managed to deliver the urgent changes without overcommitting the team, and we also set a clearer change request process for future work.”

Why this works: it shows balance. You did not simply “make the client happy” by dumping the problem onto your team. You managed both sides.

Tell Me About A Time You Made A Mistake

What they are really testing: accountability.

Hiring managers do not expect flawless humans. They expect adults. There is a difference.

Good Example

“In one project, I missed an update from a supplier because I was tracking communication across email and WhatsApp, and the information was not centralised. It caused a short delay in confirming the delivery date. I informed my manager early, contacted the supplier immediately, and updated the customer with a revised timeline. After that, I created a single tracking sheet for supplier updates so the team did not rely on scattered messages.”

This answer works because you own the mistake, explain the correction, and show process improvement.

Tell Me About A Time You Worked Under Pressure

What they are really testing: prioritisation, not suffering.

Many candidates answer this by saying they worked late. That does not automatically impress employers. Working late may show commitment, but it can also suggest poor planning, understaffing, or weak prioritisation. The better answer is how you decided what mattered most.

Good Example

“During a month-end reporting period, we had several urgent client requests come in at the same time. I listed the requests by deadline, business impact, and dependency on other teams. I handled the client-facing updates first so expectations were clear, then worked on the internal reports that affected finance closing. I also flagged one lower-priority report for next-day submission instead of trying to complete everything at the same quality level in one evening.”

This shows judgement. That is what employers want.

If asked, “How do you handle month-end closing?” a weak answer lists tasks. A strong answer explains sequence, checks, common errors, stakeholder dependencies, and deadline management.

Employers are listening for working knowledge. They want to hear how you think when the work is imperfect, rushed, ambiguous, or dependent on other people. In other words, real work. Not textbook paradise.

Weak Example

“I do not have experience yet, but I am willing to learn.”

This is common, but too passive.

Good Example

“During my internship, I supported the marketing team with social media tracking and competitor research. I learnt that small details matter because the team used those updates to adjust campaign content. I may still be early in my career, but I am comfortable learning new tools, asking questions early, and following through on assigned work. That is what I would bring into this role.”

This answer shows maturity without pretending to be senior.

What would make someone struggle in this role?

That last question is underrated. It often reveals more than the polished job description.

If the interviewer says, “This role is very fast-paced,” ask what that means in practice. “Fast-paced” can mean growth, urgency, poor planning, understaffing, or everyone pretending chaos is culture. You want to know which one.

A stronger answer balances both:

  • •

    What you want to develop

  • •

    What you can already contribute

  • •

Why the role is a sensible match

Sounding Negative About Past Employers

You can be honest without unloading frustration.

Singapore is a small market in many industries. People know people. Even when they do not, hiring managers still notice how you speak about previous workplaces.

If you describe every former manager as unreasonable, every company as toxic, and every team as incompetent, the interviewer may quietly wonder whether you are the common denominator. Fair or not, that is how risk assessment works.

Not Explaining Impact

Many candidates describe tasks, but not outcomes.

Instead of saying, “I handled reports,” explain what the reports supported.

Instead of saying, “I coordinated with teams,” explain what improved because of that coordination.

Instead of saying, “I managed customers,” explain what kind of customers, what issues, what volume, what result.

Impact does not always need to be a huge number. It can be reduced delays, fewer escalations, clearer reporting, smoother handovers, better compliance, faster turnaround, or improved stakeholder confidence.

Prepare Evidence For The Main Competencies

Most interview questions are variations of the same few themes:

  • •

    Can you do the work?

  • •

    Can you communicate?

  • •

    Can you solve problems?

  • •

    Can you handle pressure?

  • •

    Can you work with people?

  • •

    Can you learn?

  • •

    Can you stay?

Prepare examples for each theme. You do not need a different story for every possible question. One strong example can often answer several question types if you frame it correctly.

Understand Your Career Story

Your career story should explain why your moves make sense.

This is especially important if you are changing industry, returning after a break, moving from SME to MNC, moving from public sector to private sector, shifting from local to regional scope, or applying for a more senior role.

Employers do not need your whole life journey. They need a logical explanation of where you have been, what you have built, and why this move fits.

Practise Out Loud

Thinking through answers silently is not enough. Many answers sound clear in your head and then become messy when spoken.

Practise out loud so you can hear:

  • •

    Where you ramble

  • •

    Where your answer lacks evidence

  • •

    Where you sound defensive

  • •

Where your example is too long

  • •

Where your answer does not actually answer the question

The goal is not to sound perfect. The goal is to sound clear and human.

This answer works because it explains behaviour, not just confidence.
